TBH = Think Beyond Horizon

thinkbeyondhorizonTBH is actually a short form for “to be honest” – we all probably know this. We use shortcuts or short forms as much as we can. We even improve them. For me it started with the well-known MSN Messenger!

I’ll type “gg?” (for “gohts guet?”), which means how are you in German.

What is our though about the short terms? Why do we use them? Let me make it clear, it is not wrong to use them. I do it all the time, because its faster and saves our fingers the extra mile to move from one letter to the other.

Although, we use all these short and fast terms, our world is running faster and faster. Everything has to be done fast.

God didn’t create you as a microwave product.

Two minutes in the Church and you become a leader, pastor, bishop, businessman, father, husband, daughter, wife and we could go on and on with this list!

Again, I am not saying that we should not be using these short terms, but let it not become a pattern that tells you that you should be stepping into your destiny right away.

Think beyond the horizon! When God tells us that He has a plan, He knows what you need to be capable for the position He is about to give you!

Coming out of High school, you have a small amount of experience on how to manage a Company, how to Pastor a Church or how to deal with problem situations.

14670636_1801961843357475_1802457638168139149_nI always tell my Team I work with – When you are prepared, you already did half of your work! Let me break this down. When my supervisor would tell me that I had to solder the Cables behind the Stage, in my mind I’m already planning.

What’s the priority level of this task? When do I have spare time? Once I have scheduled it and I’m about to start soldering those Cables, I get the tools I need and put it beside me. Imagine I just went to solder. Every time I needed a tool, I would have to go to the back room and grab it. One after the other. If you have a step tracker, you would reach more than the average steps you walk each day. However, because I was prepared before hand, I can sit there and finish the work with ease.

It’s not that God did half of His work (creating you) and He is now doing the other half.

He made you complete and in likeness of Himself. He knows where He wants you and He knows how to lead you to where He wants you. Our thoughts distract us. Humanity limits us. Once you hear Gods voice and you are about to step out the storm comes.

Your parents might disagree with the choice you made, your doubts open a gap for fear and your past tries to take away your confidence. Like a tornado, it’s the same storm but in a different position. It is about the same thing but a different kind of feeling. Anxiety, limitations, questions, guilt of our pasts etc.

What an eagle does is, it flies into the storm so it can fly higher.  If you are facing a storm at the moment, pray and be confident because you are about to reach your breakthrough. The worst thing you can do right now is to give up.

Picture a running race, you are about to cross the final line but you stop and sit down and look at the line. And every one else is just running by you and you lost the competition. This is what will happen when you give up.

Your destiny is not far from you, but the more you let others control your life and let fear into your life, you will start to feel depressed, not accepted and unqualified.

Let me encourage you. All things that are happening to you, is to prepare you for the greater purpose God has planned for you. We need to face it so we can learn from it everyday!

Our world is like a university. Once we wake up in the morning we go to school. We learn something new everyday.

So wake up and make sure you go to school!!

Lots of love

Coming from a place of performance

Performance formed another man out of me without realizing it.

From a very young age I fell into a place where I started to perform. Now, when I heard the word performance for the first time in a lecture, I thought performance was something done in front of hundreds of people on a huge stage like a celebrity.  14713620_1801968286690164_4403964379333350176_n

Well it doesn’t really need hundreds of people and a huge stage. The motive in your heart can change the whole point of your daily actions. The question is, what is the reason behind what you are doing? Are you doing something because you want to do it or are you doing it because you need to get it done for others affirmation? To make it clear, I am not saying that words of affirmation and acceptance are something wrong. Most of the time when you ask God to encourage you, God will use one of His sons or daughters to tell you how well you are doing, or how good you are in a particular area.

I think we all need some people around us to affirm what we are doing and to encourage us.

On the other hand, it has to be out of the fullness of your heart. What do I mean by out of fullness. If I’m not filled by the love of my Father in heaven, automatically I will look for another source to get filled from. That is also where we start to fall into lust, adultery and pornography. So it needs to be balanced. I need to be filled and then I can get the words of affirmation, confirmation and encouragements from others.

Few weeks ago I asked myself when and why did I start to perform? Obviously, something inside of me wasn’t filled enough, that I felt the need to perform. Something bad had happen that I felt like I needed to perform to be filled or even to feel complete and accepted. I think we all fight with some feelings of incompetence and insufficiency. We think we aren’t good enough – whatever the word ‘enough’ means to us. We always think about our flaws, the crack, the broken part of us. That is not going to help us out. Rather than keeping our minds busy with the brokenness, we need to evolve our inner healing. There is so much more to reach in our personal life and such a strong personality behind everyone of us, when we get healed. However, that’s a whole other subject. Lets jump back to the roots of performance.

Growing up in a cultural family and church brought me up to a standard what I expected to be a norm and acceptable.

While I analyze my heart, I asked myself – Who defines what’s normal? What is normal for my family and our culture might be not normal at all for someone who grew up in the UK or Canada. The same thing the other way around, what they have as normal, is totally unacceptable in my culture or family. So who defines the normal?

For us we define normal with what we were taught in our childhood or in our Church.

As example, we have worship every morning at School of Ministry. One morning a DJ came in and had his style of Worship with House music. He was really good. It was normal for him to mix his music and say the scriptures to it. He was fully adoring God. He worshiped God in his NORMAL way.

Coming from a place where you worship in dress pants and you have to go to Church every Sunday because your parents want to, you don’t think if it is right or wrong. You just say: “This is wrong”. I had such an attitude and sat in the back. I “couldn’t” connect because he was doing something abnormal. It’s not that I couldn’t; I didn’t wanted to because it wasn’t in the circle of my knowledge called normal. Was it only me who “couldn’t” connect with God? No there were others who joined my circle of rejection towards the DJ. Although, there were many who were totally connected. They were either open towards it or it was in their circle of “normal”. So our nationalities, families, culture and even Churches tell us what is normal and acceptable.

Where did it start? Remember the time when you came home with your school reports and you would be afraid that your parents will punish you because you failed in one of the Subjects? For you it was probably one or two subjects you failed. For me it was the whole report. My oldest Sister was brilliant in School. She studied as much as she could. She is an introvert, either she was studying or she was doing something by herself in her room. My other sister was good at School. She got English and French Diplomas, she got good Job experience for few years and then she started to do an apprenticeship in a store and got her Diploma there.

What about me? I don’t even know if it is worth to talk about it. All I wanted to do was play soccer, chill with my friends and be one of the cool kid. I – sorry for my expression – sucked at School. I was not even average in School. Math, German, French, English nor Science. I hated School. Well not a great attitude.

That is where my parents obviously started to say, if you get greater grates, we will give you a gift end of this semester. Or some kind of reward they will bring up. So I will learn hard, get better to receive the gifts. Once I got better I started to feel different. I felt my parents talk to others that I am doing better now in school. Just hearing them saying this to others made me feel comfortable. For me, peace and confidence come through acceptance.

It is only firm, if it comes from God first and then everyone else.

Remember, it has to start out of fullness and not for fullness.

On the other side where my – so called – friends, the “cool guys”. They started to reject me because I started to strive for what my parents wanted.

So now I was stuck with a debate going on in my life. Do I do something that my parents would appreciate at home after school or do I accept what my friends want where I spend most of my time during the week – at School?

I couldn’t decide between one or the other. It became a performance. I did what my parents wanted me to do. In their mind they want me to have a great future, but in my view I wanted to be accepted and loved at home, so I did what I could do – #pressure!

At the same time I was thinking about how I can still be one of the “cool guys” at school and not be rejected – also a pressure!

Now performance kicked in. I studied as much as I could to get great marks to gain the attention of my parents. At School I started to steal, mob and smoke cigarettes. That’s what (apparently) the cool kids do. From then on, I basically lost my identity and started to walk around with different kind of masks. Every place I went, I would wear a particular mask depending on the crowd. That’s also were I started to lose confidence in my own personality. This is also where I thought it is normal to do what the community wants.

My Church expected a different personality than my School. My friends expected a different behavior than my culture wanted. Where do I go? From the day I can remember until I came to Toronto, I was pleasing my parents, my community, my friends, my culture and religion.

14724369_1801974576689535_4340128562226032849_nYes I still struggle – with my focus, with my motives, my culture, eating habits, prayer life and my temper. All this doesn’t even scratch the surface. I know my weaknesses and failures better than anyone else does.

I don’t believe in chances. I believe it is Devine that God brought me here. He saw that I completely lost my identity. Once I was knocked down on the ground, He restored, renewed and revived my Heart.

I remember a preacher saying: God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. That is such a strong word. I love the Bible. Most of us know Moses. He said to God, use someone else because I am a stutterer, I can’t talk. He says to God that he is not good enough. Do you think God doesn’t know? For sure He does, but God knows that He can reveal Himself where Moses seems to be weak.

What about when others reject you? You friends, culture, church, uncle, aunt, grandparents, and yes even your parents could reject and disqualify you. You know what, God still has your destiny in His hand. Let me prove it to you twice (there are sure more than two examples)!

Joseph’s brothers from the Bible rejected him. He was in prison but still held onto Gods promise! What happen after that? God lifted Joseph up and blessed him.

Second call is on David. What kind of father forgets his last son? In Psalm 51:7 David says: Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. (English Standard Version)

Just because David’s parents conceived him in Sin, Jesse thought that God will not and cannot use him. Well Mr. Jesse, you are wrong. God chose David, called him when he wasn’t even valued at all and made him a King.

God has made us unique. He doesn’t want us to perform and be someone else – that wouldn’t be uniqueness that would be double ganger. Only by being you, you can present the unique self that God has put inside of you and that will reflect Jesus in you!

Get started! Fill yourself with His grace, mercy and love and start to walk in your unique identity!

God bless you

40 Days of devotion

I would have never done this on my own. I love to eat and especially to eat different kinds of meat. Culinary food is something my stomach longs for. Anyways, in March all the new Students came to the School of Ministry. One of them named Jaden D. (The Next Jesus Movement)!

When I looimg_0074k back from the point where I am right now and where I was before, I see how perfectly God planned everything!

I always had a desire for Revival. I always asked God to stir up something in me that draws me closer to him. To set me on Fire! God is the one who put that desire in my heart.

Now because Jaden was in the same room as me, I was sticking around him. I started to getting to know him. This guy is desperate for Revival. He intercedes for Nations and Souls to turn to Jesus.

I am very sure that God has put this handsome man in my Room, so my desire for Revival and outpouring of the Holyspirit will be fulfilled. God knew from which broken and rejected place I came, but he didn’t give up on me. Now if you have the desire to change or to grow in your calling, stick around with those who have the same desire or people who can call and declare your destiny into your life.

I started to Journal. Not because I love to write and journal, but because my mentor clearly told me: You need to spend time with the Lord and Journal!

I wasn’t comfortable with it. However, something in me agreed with the word my Mentor told me. I needed to step out of my comfort zone. I needed to obey so I could receive something that my heart beats for. Now sticking around these People led me into the desire to seek God more. I got vulnerable, took of my mask and started to live my life by knowing my identity in Christ: “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:1-2 ESV

By spending time more and more with Jesus, He started to work on and in me. The desire change the world and turn the Nations to God, is not a bad desire at all.

But before we can turn the Nations, we need to deal with the roots in us. Now we can repent from our past and sins, but there still are some consequences and wounds we have to deal with.

So while I was journalling the Lord led me into a place where he planted the desire to fast for 21 Days. From the beginning of my journey he knew that he is the one who chose me! He is the one who is pulling me back on track to fulfill the desire for revival! I would and could never have done this on my own. With these friends I was able to do a 40days liquid fast! I guarantee you! Fast, pray, intercede and cry out to God and you dsc_2518
WILL receive what you are asking for. Select people who can push you forward and pull you towards the desire that is burning inside of you! Cry out to God and think out of the box! Because our God is the God almighty. Nothing is impossible for him!

Your friends might say you are crazy. But wasn’t Jesus crazy when he laid down his life and hung on that cross; so we may live without guilt and shame in His grace. Now we can fast, but we must stay focused in God, stay in prayer when you wake up, when you sleep and whatever you do! Keep pressing in. Don’t grow weary. Ask God to strengthen you. If we just fast, but we don’t connect ourself with Jesus – it’s just a bad diet and does not help us at all!

Obey the voice inside of you as you read this. Get started! Let us cry out for a shifting in our lives so we can shift lives!

It’s OK to cut someone out of your Life – Here are 5 reasons.

It’s OK to cut someone out of your Life – Here are 5 reasons!

I grew up in a very cultural community. Since I grew up in that way, I didn’t know better than what my parents did. I grew up with the mentality that anything my parents said was right, and you just do what you’ve been told to do. Many of the people I know would say that I didn’t grow up like that. Well that’s what I thought until I came out of the environment and saw the bigger picture. Just to make it clear, I want to say that Friendships and Family bondages are important.

Growing up, my parents would tell me that I have to wish someone for their birthday or I have to do stuff I never wanted to do. Eventually all the expectations began to bother me. That’s also when I started to please people and my parents more, than I pleased God. Now, that’s when our loss starts; when we disconnect with God. God is not disconnecting Himself from us, rather, we disconnect ourselves from Him. When we start put our parents, spouse, friends or other people in first place, above God, it becomes idolatry. In fact, it could also start to come around and we may begin to worship others rather than worshipping God. Dangerous! We shall only worship our God. (read Luke 4:8) Few weeks ago I posted different Quotes about “How do you feel?”.

I am telling you this again. If your heart doesn’t feel well, check yourself. Why do you feel like that, where is that feeling coming from? It is important that you guard your heart. Deal with the roots and have boundaries. Be confident in what you have chosen to do. There might be hard consequences you may face. It might feel weird because it’s totally not the way you were taught or you grew up. It’s not easy, but it will help you to grow and go forward! greatness-knows-how-to-shineSometimes you need to cut people from you life. You may ask me why? Let me ask you, who are you sticking with? Now if I would stick around with people who swear all day long, I get used to those words and would automatically use it the same way they do. Or if people complain all the time, I start to agree with them and my day is doing to be as negative as their day.

Cutting people out of your life does not mean you have to hate them. Cutting them out means that you are dealing with your heart. That you are guarding your heart from things that could effect you or pull you down. You are saying that they are no longer first place in your life and you’re not allowing them to negatively influence your life.

Here are five reasons why it is ok, to cut them out:

#1 As I said, when they offer nothing else than negativity. How is their attitude. We all have the authority to speak things into existence. For those with a positive attitude, they will reap positive rewards. Those who constantly complain or carry an attitude of ungratefulness, the atmosphere becomes filled with depression and negativity. People who always want to criticize others are showing a sure sign of wasting valuable time and effort on the wrong things and, for sure, are not deserving of yours.

#2 When people are no longer supportive. When something seems to be impossible for you, that is exactly where God can prove that it is possible for Him. If your {so called} friends can not be supportive of your dreams and the desires you have in your heart, then they will not benefit you. It will give you more areas of frustration and doubts in your life.

#3 Giver or a taker? John Arnott mostly says in his teachings: “Be a giver!”. Exactly! Any Relationship is an exchange. If someone comes to the table before you come and leaves before you leave all the time. That could be that they want the food before you, leave you the rest and also lets you clean up the table. T.D. Jakes once said in one of his sermons: “When you start to feel used or taken advantage of, mentally or spiritually, cut it off quickly.”

#4 No longer trustful. Trust can take years to build and a only a few moments to break. When the bond is broken or betrayal sets in, find the exit. Not out of bitterness or hate, but out of humbleness and devotion for your heart.

#5 When you can’t be yourself around them or if you are not happy around them. Obviously if you can’t be yourself, you are not happy. Happiness comes in freedom. Freedom starts when you have the joy of the Lord in you and you accept yourself. Accepting ourselves is the biggest act of Worship. Look for people to hang around with, who are accepting of you, because they see the creativity of the creator!

These five reasons helped me to guard my heart. Again, do not cut it because you hate (strong word) someone. As the Bible tells us to love each other. Love and have healthy boundaries. God wants you to live a life of Joy and happiness and enjoy the daily journey with Him!

Thank you for reading!
